Celtic got the Ange Postecoglou era started on Wednesday afternoon as they beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 in a pre-season friendly, with Liam Shaw making his debut.

Josh Windass put the Owls in front, but Postecoglou managed to claim a win as his side came back to claim the victory.

Albian Ajeti, Owen Moffat and Odsonne Edouard all found the net to give Celtic a 3-1 victory, starting the Postecoglou era in style.

Celtic’s Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland is less than two weeks away, so getting up to speed in these friendlies will be vital.

Postecoglou named an experimental side; a mix of first-team stars, talented youngsters and new signings as Liam Shaw made his debut – ironically against his former club.

Shaw joined Celtic from Wednesday this summer, leaving his boyhood club for a move to Parkhead after just 22 appearances for the Owls.

The 20-year-old started last night’s game in midfield and earned huge praise from Celtic fans on Twitter after such a promising first display.

Celtic fans called Shaw ‘very good’ and ‘excellent’, believing he looked ‘class’ in his Bhoys debut.

Others suggested that Shaw is already ahead of Ismaila Soro in the Celtic pecking order, even suggesting that he is a young Scott Brown.
