Celtic overcame St Mirren this weekend but Brendan Rodgers hooked one player after just 45 minutes.

Celtic came from behind to defeat St Mirren 4-1 in their Scottish Cup quarter-final clash, but it is fair to say that Gary Mackay-Steven did not have a match he will be keen to remember.

The 26-year-old recently returned to Brendan Rodgers’ starting line-up. However on this evidence he may not be kicking off too many more matches between now and May.

Celtic were 1-0 down going into half-time, at which point Rodgers opted to replace the ineffective Mackay-Steven with Patrick Roberts.

Soon after, the game turned in Celtic’s favour with goals from Mikael Lustig, Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths ensuring there was to be no shock, maintaining the Bhoys’ treble challenge in the process.

Mackay-Steven has now made 10 appearances for Celtic this season, but with no goals or assists in that time he really needs to take a long hard look at his game.
