Benkovic, who joined Celtic on loan from Premier League club Leicester in the summer transfer window, was in action for the Hoops against Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The 21-year-old Croatia Under-21 international defender started the tie and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Brendan Rodgers’s side won 3-0.
After a goalless first half, Scott Sinclair put the Hoops in the lead on 53 minutes, before James Forrest and Ryan Christie found the target.
The Glasgow giants were the better side and deservedly won the tie to book their place in the final of the Scottish League Cup.
