According to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, Celtic are interested in signing the Deportivo La Coruna centre-back this summer, for a reported £3.5 million.
The Hoops’ central defence could look quite different in the coming months, with Dedryck Boyata and Jozo Simunovic both linked with a move away, while it remains to be seen if Erik Sviatchenko returns from his half-season loan at FC Midtjylland.
Schar, who has 35 caps for Switzerland and seven goals at international level, would arguably represent a big upgrade on Boyata, Simunovic and Sviatchenko.

Schar has previously courted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal and he would undoubtedly represent a coup for manager Brendan Rodgers.
With Kristoffer Ajer and Jack Hendry arguably being the future of the Hoops’ central defence, the addition of someone like Schar would certainly give the young duo incentive to perform and improve every single week.
