Clint Hill reckons there could be a title race on between Rangers and Celtic.
Former Rangers defender Clint Hill has told BBC Sport that if his former side earn an unlikely victory over Old Firm rivals Celtic on Sunday, then a title race will be on – but Celtic fans have laughed off the veteran’s claim.
Rangers play host to Celtic on Sunday afternoon at Ibrox in what could be considered a crucial game at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Only six points separate the two Glasgow clubs, though Celtic have a game in hand after their clash against Dundee last week was called off due to the weather. But a win on Sunday for the Gers will reduce the gap to just three points.
Speaking ahead of the game this week, former Light Blues defender Hill claimed a title race would commence if Graeme Murty’s men continued their excellent form by beating Brendan Rodgers’ side on home turf.
“[Rangers] will go into this game full of confidence, at home, with the crowd behind them,” Hill said. “If they get a win then they seriously are title contenders. They have to be judged that way.”
But Celtic fans have ridiculed Hill for his comments, who turned out 31 times in all competitions for the Gers and found the back of the net an impressive six times.
