David Turnbull won’t be joining Celtic this summer – and he’s potentially facing six months on the sidelines.

A lot of Celtic fans on Twitter are sympathising with David Turnbull over his botched move to Parkhead.

The 19-year-old midfielder is set to stay at Motherwell this summer after Celtic walked away from what looked a done deal earlier this week.

A knee injury was discovered in Turnbull’s medical for the Hoops and The Scottish Sun are reporting that he could potentially miss the next six months.

It looks like the final nail in what’s been a bizarre transfer saga and although Celtic supporters are happy that his knee problem was uncovered, many feel sorry for him that his dream move has collapsed.

It’ll be interesting to know whether Motherwell knew that he was carrying this problem when they agreed the £3.25 million transfer with Neil Lennon’s side.

There is no evidence that Fir Park side or even Turnbull knew, but it’s important that it was discovered; not just for Celtic, because £3 million is a good bit of money, but for the player.

He could have moved to Paradise and aggravated it further down the line, possibly incurring a much longer absence than six months, but at least for Turnbull it’s being nipped in the bud.
