Rodgers has three years remaining on his Celtic contract.
Danny Murphy reckons Brendan Rodgers is set to leave Celtic in the near future and return to the Premier League after taking the Hoops as far as they can go – but Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter by ridiculing the retired midfielder.
Murphy told BBC Scotland that he believes Rodgers is likely to return to the Premier League in the near future because has has done all he can achieve at Celtic, after two successive trebles.
Rodgers has three years remaining on his Celtic contract, which could see him remain in charge for 10 in a row – if Celtic win the next three Scottish Premiership titles, eclipsing Rangers’ record of nine consecutive titles.
Murphy said: “I think Brendan has maybe even surpassed expectations. I’m convinced he’s destined for a job back in the Premier League at some point in the not too distant future.”
The former Liverpool and Swansea City manager has been linked with a move down south, with jobs such as Leicester City and Arsenal being linked with the Northern Irishman since he joined Celtic.
Some fans reacted to Murphy’s comments on Twitter, with the majority of supporters ridiculing Murphy for his comments as Celtic fans are confident that the Rodgers will remain at Paradise until 10 in a row.
