Celtic kicked off the defence of their Scottish Premiership crown with a 4-1 demolition of Hearts at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon.
The Hoops, who didn’t lose a single domestic match last season, picked up where they left off as Brendan Rodgers’s side sailed to the top of the division and it’s not an exaggeration to wonder if they will stay there for the rest of the campaign – certainly not after this showing.
Celtic put the Tyneside club to the sword as two goals from Leigh Griffiths, either side of Scott Sinclair’s second, put the Bhoys three goals up by 63 minutes.
Callum McGregor added a fourth on 73 minutes, but Esmael Goncalves reduced the deficit for the visitors with a consolation which slightly marred the victory for Rodgers.
The manner of that strike has irked the Hoops’ supporters, with Craig Gordon getting beaten at his near post, and fans weren’t very forgiving toward the Scottish keeper.
