Celtic ace James Forrest was dropped against San Marino.

Celtic ace James Forrest was left out of Scotland’s starting line up against San Marino.
Days earlier he had started – and was poor – in Scotland’s loss to Kazakhstan.
Ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton was furious to see Forrest had been axed from the XI.
Sutton’s comment however was not a popular one.
Forrest was underwhelming in Scotland’s loss, a different player from the one which starred for his country back in late 2018.
Forrest came off the bench in the 71st minute for ex-Celtic teammate Stuart Armstrong, with Scotland 1-0 up.
Just three minutes later the winger made an impact, providing an assist for Johnny Russell to score his country’s second.
This allowed Scotland breathing room and the chance to see out the game without fearing a late, embarrassing equaliser.

For Forrest, it worked out perfectly.
He came off the bench to answer his critics, and got some rest into the bargain too.
Celtic have a huge game against Rangers at the weekend and Forrest will return fresher than he could have been, with his confidence repaired a little.
