Chris Sutton believes that Celtic should target Rangers loanee Ryan Kent this summer.

Several Celtic fans have reacted to Chris Sutton’s comment in the Daily Record in which he suggested that the Hoops should bid for Ryan Kent this summer following his impressive performance in the Old Firm game on Sunday.

Neil Lennon’s men now find themselves within touching distance of the Scottish Premiership title after goals from Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest helped the Bhoys to a 2-1 win against Rangers.

The Gers enjoyed a good spell during the second-half. They did not create too many chances, but were applying plenty of pressure and actually looked to be favourites to secure the unlikeliest of wins for a little while after Kent scored a superb solo goal.

The winger – who was fortunate to not be sent off for striking Scott Brown – produced a brilliant run through Celtic’s defence before finding the corner. He was Rangers’ best player on the day, and his performance prompted Sutton to suggest that Celtic should make a move for him when he returns to parent club Liverpool in the summer.

“They could do a lot worse than trying to pinch Ryan Kent from under the noses of Rangers,” he told the Daily Record.

“Why not? The on-loan Liverpool winger would improve Celtic and the left-hand side of the team is an issue with Scott Sinclair’s performances now so flat.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, very few of the Celtic fans seemed to agree with the pundit, with many questioning how serious his suggestion was given the date the article was published on.

Several supporters suggested that they would rather see the Hoops make another move for Patrick Roberts in the summer. As well as his Ibrox connection, the Parkhead faithful are not convinced about a bid for Kent as they do not believe that he has been consistent enough.
