A 2-1 win at Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon sent Celtic top of the SPL.
Celtic are finally back on top of the Scottish Premier League after a dramatic late win at Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.
The Bhoys were level with the home side late in the game after Scott Brown was sent off for Ronny Deila’s men – but a Virgil van Dijk winner prompted wild celebrations at the final whistle.
And the Celtic boss hailed his side’s ‘spirit’ and ‘togetherness’ after a hard-earned 2-1 victory.
“It was a fantastic win, I am so proud of the team now. We worked very hard, playing Europe away and then getting three points from a very difficult match,” Deila told BBC Sport after the dramatic win.
“The way we did it – that was real team spirit and togetherness. You are happy with a point when you get a man sent off but I felt we very pretty confident and something could happen in the end.
“We got a chance and we put it into the goal! It was a tough game to be a referee in. The sending off was maybe okay.”
Celtic fans, meanwhile, were naturally delighted with defender Van Dijk’s late winner. The Bhoys are back in town – and things aren’t looking so bad for them after all. Here are the best reactions after the game on Twitter!
