A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports emerging from the Daily Record which have suggested that the Hoops are keen on signing Timothy Castagne in January.

Brendan Rodgers is apparently keen to strengthen his options at right-back. Mikael Lustig’s contract expires this summer, and the Record reports that he is attracting AIK’s attention.

Meanwhile, Cristian Gamboa has barely been seen by the Parkhead faithful. Anthony Ralston recently enjoyed a superb return to the side, but he remains a fairly inexperienced option for the Hoops.

The Record reports that Castagne is a key target heading into next month’s window, with Celtic eyeing up a potential £6 million move for the 23-year-old, whose deal expires in 2020. Atalanta are reportedly not keen to sell, but perhaps the Hoops are hoping that his contract situation could possibly open the door for a deal.

The reaction amongst the Bhoys fans seems slightly mixed. The majority of the supporters appear to feel that it would be a fantastic deal to sign the Belgium international, especially given the problems that they have endured at right-back in the last couple of years.

There are a couple of supporters who are not convinced given his lack of game-time for the Serie A side this term. But most appear to be in favour of a move and have suggested that it could be an inspired piece of business.
