A number of Celtic fans expressed their delight as Stuart Armstrong scored twice in Southampton’s latest game.

It may have been another disappointing afternoon for Southampton, but Stuart Armstrong has every right to be proud of his display in their 3-2 defeat to Fulham.
Armstrong has not exactly hit the ground running since leaving Celtic for £7 million in the summer (via BBC Sport). But after an excellent international break, the midfielder was handed just his third start for the Saints in the Premier League at Craven Cottage.
And it was Armstrong who got the visitors off to a flyer as he broke the deadlock inside 18 minutes. Unfortunately, it would be Fulham who would be celebrating in Claudio Ranieri’s first game in charge.
But after going 2-1 behind, Armstrong repeated a trick he performed many times at Celtic as he scored a stunning goal. The 26-year-old curled a delicious effort into the top corner to equalise.

Fulham would win and ensure that the pressure remains on Mark Hughes. But Armstrong took plenty of plaudits after the full-time whistle, with many Hoops supporters praising their former star on social media.
Ryan Christie has endured that Celtic have not missed Armstrong’s too much since his departure. But Christie’s remarkable transformation – which is certainly reminiscent of Armstrong’s turnaround during Brendan Rodgers’ first season at Parkhead – has not stopped the proud Bhoys fans keeping an eye on the Saints ace’s progress.
