Celtic are reportedly pushing to sign Romaine Sawyers.

Celtic’s search for a new attacking midfielder took a major hit earlier this summer, as a deal to sign Motherwell ace David Turnbull collapsed over his medical..
The Bhoys are now looking towards alternative transfer targets, and their prime target appears to be Brentford playmaker Romaine Sawyers.
Sawyers, 27, racked up six assists for Brentford last season, and the Daily Record note that Celtic have already failed with a £1.5million bid, with a £2.5million bid imminent.
That may be enough to tempt Brentford into a sale, landing the creative midfield reinforcement that Neil Lennon has been looking for having missed out on Turnbull.
Moving for Sawyers is a little surprising, given that he’s eight years older than Turnbull, and he’s more of a creator, whereas Turnbull was a goalscorer having found the net 16 times last season.
The St Kitts and Nevis international may find it difficult to turn down a move to Celtic, who can offer huge crowds, European football and a title challenge, to name just a few of the attractions.

Celtic fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumours about Sawyers, with some believing that he will be a ‘class’ signing, and would ultimately help replace Olivier Ntcham at Parkhead.
Others aren’t so happy though, admitting they’re not impressed if Sawyers is the calibre of player Celtic are targeting, adding that he isn’t worth more than the £1.5million bid whilst airing concerns about how he isn’t particularly similarly to Turnbull.
