Bayern Munich are confident of beating Celtic without Robert Lewandowski.
The prolific Polish forward is out of the game with injury and has not travelled with the squad.
But this is only because Bayern are so confident they can beat Celtic without him.
Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rumenigge said that Lewandowski could have featured if they needed him to, with his thigh problem not all that serious.
He said that if the game was more important, then Lewandowski would have played.
Rumenigge is quoted by SkySports: “If we had played against Real Madrid, he might have gone.
“The coach does not want to risk anything as Saturday’s game, which is very important for us, is in the back of his mind.”
Bayern won the match at home to Celtic a fortnight ago 3-0, but this could be a lot harder away from home where the Scottish champions have toppled big sides in the past.
The Germans are only three points clear of Celtic and lag behind runaway leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
A loss to Celtic would leave them in a scrap for second place with two games remaining.
Considering Bayern are already missing Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery to injury, their stance on Lewandowski could backfire.
