Celtic drew 0-0 with Rosenborg on Wednesday evening.

Celtic endured a frustrating evening at Celtic Park, as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Rosenborg in the first leg of their Champions League qualification tie.

The Bhoys coasted past Linfield of Northern Ireland in the last round, and whilst many expected Celtic to sweep Rosenborg aside too, there was an element of doubt heading into Wednesday’s game.

Manager Brendan Rodgers had been left depleted at the back due to injuries to Cristian Gamboa, Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyata, leaving Kristoffer Ajer to fill in at centre back, whilst he also had no strikers available with Leigh Griffiths suspended and Moussa Dembele injured.

As Rosenborg stood firm at Celtic Park, the Bhoys plugged away in search of a winning goal, but it proved elusive as Rodgers and Celtic were left with a 0-0 draw at the full time whistle.

Celtic must now avoid defeat in the second leg in order to progress to the next round of qualifying, with fans left somewhat frustrated by their side’s inability to find the back of the net.

Whilst Ajer impressed at the back, most other Celtic players failed to impress, with mixed opinions on the performance of new signing Olivier Ntcham, who partnered Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong in midfield.

Ntcham joined from Manchester City earlier this month, and his display against Rosenborg sparked disagreements among Celtic fans, with many believing that he is showing real promise, tipping him for a huge future and possibly even a Player of the Season award.

However, others weren’t quite so impressed, noting that he hasn’t quite found his rhythm or his range of passing, isn’t living up to his price tag so far and shouldn’t be in the side ahead of Callum McGregor just yet.
