Celtic boss admits team deserved to lose.

Celtic's new interim manager Neil Lennon is unveiled at Celtic Park on February 27, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic hoped to make up for a 1-0 loss at Ibrox on their previous visit.

A win would have been an ideal way for Neil Lennon to make a statement to the Celtic support, and show that he had actually taken the team forward since Brendan Rodgers’ departure.

Instead his Celtic side lost 2-0 against rivals Rangers, failing to recover from conceding a second minute free kick.

Manager Neil Lennon admitted after the game that he felt Celtic deserved to lose, admitting the performance was ‘flat’.

Celtic had already won the title, but should have needed no motivation to win against Rangers, especially after suffering defeat there last time.

Lennon’s comments that Rangers were ‘hungrier’ were a little worrying, and shone a spotlight on himself, as it is his job to motivate the players.
