RB Leipzig centre-back Marvin Compper could leave the Bundesliga in January with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic linked.

Reports in Kicker that Celtic will make a move for RB Leipzig defender Marvin Compper in January have certainly raised a few eyebrows.
For a start, the one-time German international is 32 years of age does not fit the typical Celtic model of signing young and talented players with plenty of potential and a profit in mind.
And, just to add to the intrigue, Compper has made just two Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig all season – and is generally seen as being far below the level required to play near the top of Germany’s first division.

Despite all these questions, however, speculation has intensified that Compper could be moving to Parkhead in January. The Daily Record claim that Leipzig are open to offers at a knockdown price of just £1 million – which doesn’t exactly suggest that he is valued highly at last season’s Bundesliga runners-up.

And while Celtic certainly need reinforcements at centre-back, while further experience wouldn’t go amiss, it seems the supporters feel their club could do a little better.
