A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment after Livingston announced on their official website that Liam Kelly has left the club after triggering a transfer release clause in his contract.

The Scottish Sun reported in May that the Hoops were one of the teams interested in signing Kelly after his superb year in the Scottish Premiership.

And it appears that the path has been cleared for the 23-year-old former Rangers trainee to make a move during the coming months, with Livi confirming on their official website that he has taken advantage of a clause in his contract to leave.

It must be noted that Livingston’s statement alluded to the fact that he is being pursued by clubs in the Championship in England – which certainly suggests that Neil Lennon has some work to do if he is keen to sign the stopper.

The news that Kelly is available has been met with a mixed reaction on social media. There are a couple of Hoops supporters who have no interest in seeing Kelly head to Parkhead as they do not believe that he is good enough to push Scott Bain.

However, the majority of the fans on Twitter appear to be in favour of the Bhoys getting something done. Kelly has kept two clean sheets against Celtic this past season, and the supporters believe that he could be an inspired signing.

Manager of Celtic Neil Lennon walks on the pitch before the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Aberdeen and Celtic at Pittodrie Stadium on May 04, 2019 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
