Celtic fans astounded at comments from former Rangers striker.
Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd is full of belief Celtic can be beaten by his old side, but picked an odd choice of game as evidence.
Referring to the 5-1 win by Celtic over Rangers earlier this season, Boyd is quoted by the Scottish Sun stating he believes he saw during this game that there was not a big margin between the two sides.
Rangers’ Kris Boyd
Boyd argued that the scoreline flattered Celtic, stating that Rangers were close to tying the scores level before Brendan Rodgers’ side ran away with it.
He said: “The last one, 5-1, Rangers had a chance at 2-1 through Barrie McKay, he cut inside and he put it wide of the post.
“Celtic went up the pitch and scored and Rangers had Senderos sent off from there, so there wasn’t much in that game despite the result making it look a lot worse.”
Boyd’s comments might have held a bit more weight had he pointed to the subsequent Betfred Cup game between the two sides, which Celtic only won 1-0.
Kris Boyd – Kilmarnock
Boyd played for Rangers between 2006 and 2010, and then for a second spell in 2014/15.
The 31-year-old currently plays for Kilmarnock, and has three goals in 12 games.
Celtic fans reacted with amusement to his comments, here is a look at what they had to say…
