Celtic fans have been reacting on Twitter with delight to the news that the club confirmed on their official website that Kieran Tierney has signed a new deal with the Hoops.

Tierney has been fantastic since bursting onto the scene at Parkhead, taking little time to establish himself as the most impressive left-back in the Scottish Premiership, and not looking out of place when he has played against Europe’s best clubs in the Champions League.

His form and potential has seen him move onto the radar of some Premier League sides, with Eurosport reporting that both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been interested in the defender.

But while it may have seemed that it was a matter of when and not if he moved to the Premier League, Tierney has dealt those sides a major blow by committing his future to the Bhoys for the next six years, as confirmed by the club’s official website.

Unsurprisingly, the news has been met with an incredibly positive reaction on social media, with many Celtic fans understandably delighted that Tierney has committed his future to Parkhead.

Signing contracts obviously do not guarantee that players will stay for the full duration of those deals, but the startling length of the deal is a real statement from Tierney, and Brendan Rodgers may be hoping that that has a positive impact on any future transfer business.

Here is the best of the reaction…
