Barton featured for Rangers in the Old Firm derby against Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.
The former Newcastle United midfielder started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes.
The English midfielder was a high-profile signing for Rangers in the summer transfer window and was expected to be an important player for the Gers against Celtic on Saturday afternoon.
