Celtic are said to be keen on signing Giorgian De Arrascaeta from Cruziero.
Celtic supporters have treated the links with Giorgian De Arrascaeta with a pinch of salt.
However, the £18 million price tag over the attacking midfielder’s head means that hardly any Celtic supporters can see the transfer going ahead.
De Arrascaeta has also been linked with Newcastle United, but they too could struggle affording the fee for the Cruzeiro playmaker.
Celtic would have to break their transfer record by a distance to bring in De Arrascaeta, and that seems unlikely this summer.
The only way Celtic could afford such a deal would be to sell Moussa Dembele or Kieran Tierney, but Brendan Rodgers is understood to want to keep them both.
Celtic are yet to make a significant move in the transfer window, but are thought to have funds to invest this summer, and a new midfielder could be important following Stuart Armstrong’s departure.
