It’s safe to say that Celtic fans are loving Filip Benkovic.

Quite a few Celtic fans on Twitter have been raving about Filip Benkovic.

The big centre-back scored his first Celtic goal in this afternoon’s demolition of Hearts at Parkhead.

Benkovic, on loan from Leicester City, pulled away from his marker to power a fine header past Zdenek Zlamal from a Callum McGregor corner on 26 minutes.

The 21-year-old is endearing himself to Celtic supporters more and more on a weekly basis, and here is how Hoops supporters reacted to this afternoon’s performance:

As much as Celtic fans want Benkovic signed permanently, it could be tricky.

Not only do Leicester have the option to recall the Croatian powerhouse in January, but the former Premier League champions paid a hefty £13 million to sign him earlier this year [Sky Sports].

Even if the Foxes are willing to let him go, they won’t be willing to accept a loss on him if they can avoid it and that could mean Celtic have to break the transfer record to sign him up.

The Bhoys paid a club-record £9 million to sign Odsonne Edouard – who scored twice against the Jambos – this past summer, but Benkovic might well top that.
