Sviatchenko has been slightly out of form this season, but once looked to have a great deal of promise.

And Celtic fans are disappointed to see Sviatchenko heading for the exit door, with many suggesting he remains a far better options than Dedryck Boyata.

Celtic are thought to still be looking for a new centre-back, and Rodgers has already upgraded his backline.

Celtic have brought in Marvin Compper from Red Bull Leipzig, and the German is expected to walk straight into Celtic’s starting line-up.

Celtic are currently on winter break, and will not return to competitive action for another fortnight, when they are due to face Brechin in the Scottish Cup.
