Pundit says Celtic’s achievements don’t count because Rangers missed years in the top flight.
Celtic are closing in on their eighth league title.
They are edging nearer to their lofty goal of winning a record setting 10 titles in a row.
Colin Hendry however believes Celtic winning 10 titles should come with an asterisk.
Quoted by Football Scotland referencing the Heart and Hand podcast, Hendry said that Rangers’ years out of the top flight mean Celtic’s achievements through these seasons were watered down.
Hendry said: “You can argue it until the cows come home but the fact is Rangers were not in that league when they did win so they are talking about their treble trebles and nine or ten in a row, to all of us outside Celtic it’s not really what it is.”
Hendry misses the point that Celtic are closing in on the treble treble this season, and for each of the past three seasons, Rangers have been in the top flight.
For the years they were out of it, Rangers were out for a self inflicted reason, for financial irregularity.
They only have themselves to blame for Celtic’s dominance.
