The Hoops left-back saw his Dundee loan spell cut short but he has now linked up with the Scottish Championship promotion hopefuls.

Celtic left-back Calvin Miller has joined Ayr United on loan for the remainder of the season, the Scottish Championship club have confirmed.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Dundee, making 16 appearances, but returned to Parkhead after his stint was cut short by recently appointed manager Jim McIntyre (official Dundee website).

With Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers having given Miller just five games in the green and white hoops (Transfermarkt), it is little surprise that he has gone out on loan again in order to get some game time and will be hoping to impress for a team fighting for promotion to the top flight.

The Honest Men are currently tussling with table-topping Ross County for the Championship title, and sit in second place in the table, so they will be hoping Miller can integrate quickly into the team with so much at stake.

Miller only extended his Celtic contract back in August last year (official website), committing to the reigning Premiership champions until 2020, but it remains to be seen how much he will feature next term, with Kieran Tierney so crucial to Rodgers’ plans.

Here is how some Hoops fans reacted on Twitter to the news of Miller’s new loan:
