Plenty of Celtic supporters are not particularly happy with the announcement concerning the referee for Sunday’s game.

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news confirmed by the Daily Record that Bobby Madden will be the man to take charge of Sunday’s Old Firm game.

Neil Lennon’s men will be hoping to move themselves 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership. The Hoops already appear to have one hand on the trophy, but a victory would crush any remaining hope Rangers have of setting up a title race.

A win would also see the Bhoys get back on track after losing an Old Firm game for the first time since the Gers’ promotion to the top flight in the two sides’ previous meeting.

Celtic lost 1-0 at Ibrox on a day where Hoops fans would struggle to argue that they deserved anything more. But they will still be overwhelming favourites for Sunday’s meeting at Parkhead.

However, some Bhoys supporters have their concerns following the news that Madden will referee the game. He famously decided not to give Celtic a penalty a couple of seasons ago when Clint Hill brought Leigh Griffiths down inside the box.

And while the standard of officiating in Scotland for much of this season would suggest that whoever got the game would be deemed a poor appointment by the governing body, plenty of Celtic fans have expressed their worry about Madden taking charge.
