Oliver Burke has hit the ground running since joining Scottish champions Celtic on loan from West Bromwich Albion in the January transfer window – and fans have reacted to comments on his future by urging the Hoops to land him permanently.

The 21-year-old has scored two goals in five Celtic appearances, both coming in a brace against St. Mirren. He has been involved in five wins, with the Hoops keeping clean sheets in all of his outings so far.

The Scotland international is currently playing as a striker, with Leigh Griffiths taking time out and Odsonne Edouard constantly in the treatment room. Indeed, Edouard returned on Sunday, only to be stretchered off.

It is likely to mean that Burke will continue to spearhead Celtic’s side ahead of Wednesday night’s clash against Hibernian at Parkhead, and he stated that although a permanent deal is “out of his hands”, he did not rule out a permanent move.

“I’m just focusing on day to day. I don’t want to look too far ahead because decisions can be taken out of your hands,” Burke was quoted as saying by the Record. “But I’m really happy here and if I’m enjoying my football then I want to stay.”

The Hoops do have plenty in attack after also bringing in Timothy Weah on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, with the teenager scoring three goals in five games, as well as Vakoun Issouf Bayo who is yet to make his first appearance.

Celtic fans reacted to Burke’s comments by urging their club to consider a permanent move for Burke, who cost West Brom a whopping £15million (Record) in the summer of 2017 from RB Leipzig.
