Scott Brown has suggested that he is closing in on signing a new contract with Celtic.
A number of Celtic fans have expressed their delight on Twitter after Scott Brown told STV that he is close to agreeing a new contract with the Hoops, insisting that he will sign an extension with the Scottish Premiership champions.
As reported by STV, Brown is now into the final year of his current deal at Parkhead. It would surprise few therefore, that Celtic decided to open talks with the midfielder over fresh terms.
In fact, the only surprise perhaps is that the Bhoys have left it until now to try and extend Brown’s contract. The Hoops captain continues to prove to be a colossus in the Premiership, leading Brendan Rodgers’ men to one of their most successful periods in their history.
The 33-year-old is rarely out-performed and his performances have given Rodgers little reason to start thinking about the prospect of replacing him anytime soon.
The news has, unsurprisingly, gone down incredibly well amongst some of the Hoops fans on social media. Brown remains a key man for the club and some of the supporters are convinced that he will lead the side to their 10th league title in a row in the near future.
