Scott Bain has commented on Rangers’ decision to hand Celtic just 800 seats for next month’s Old Firm derby.

Scott Bain has told The Telegraph that Rangers’ decision to cut Celtic’s ticket allocation for December 29’s clash between the two bitter rivals will only make a victory sweeter – and Hoops fans have reacted to the goalkeeper’s comments.

Rangers chairman Dave King announced in the Light Blues’ AGM on Tuesday that he would not be reversing the decision to hand Celtic just 800 seats at Ibrox – despite Ibrox holding more than 50,000 fans.

King’s decision comes after Rangers were given the same treatment in the previous Old Firm derby, which saw Olivier Ntcham score the only goal of the game in a 1-0 Celtic win at Parkhead.

Celtic fans may decide against going to Ibrox due to the allocation, but Bain stated that a win against the Gers would only be “sweeter” with no fans. Rangers have failed to beat Celtic in 12 attempts since returning to the top flight.

“If there are no fans? Well, it will be good to win then, eh?” Bain said. “I don’t know how it would feel – we’d see on the day – but fewer Celtic fans will mean it’ll only be sweeter if we win the game.”

Rangers are also teething with Celtic’s lap of honour at Parkhead back in September, though the Hoops are known to do this most matches no matter what the result is.

The ex-Dundee goalkeeper will start Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen, but will sit on the bench in Norway against Rosenborg. Celtic fans reacted to his comments, backing the goalkeeper for his remark.
