£1.5m centre-back Jack Hendry barely featured in the Scottish Premiership last season; maybe a spell at Hull City is what Celtic’s forgotten man needs?

Just 18 months ago, Jack Hendry was arguably the most highly-rated young defender in Scottish football. What’s more, he was on his way to Celtic from Dundee for £1.5 million.

But flash forward to the present day and Hendry, who actually started his career with The Hoops before making his name elsewhere, appears to have no future whatsoever at Parkhead.

He fell out of favour under Brendan Rodgers and continues to slip even further down the pecking order since Neil Lennon took over.

The 24-year-old might have hoped for a chance once Filip Benkovic and Dedryck Boyata left this summer but, instead, Celtic have signed £7 million Christopher Jullien and, according to the Mail, are now weighing up Partizan Belgrade’s Strahinja Pavlovic.

The report adds that Hendry, who is now fourth, potentially fifth choice at Celtic, is set to join Hull City on loan as he looks to get his career back on track in Humberside. New Tigers boss Grant McCann is apparently a fan. More so than Lennon anyway.

And the fact that Celtic fans are counting down the days until Henry’s departure sums up how far his stock has fallen in just a year and a half. Football is a fickle business after all.
