Speculation is circulating over a possible move for Liverpool’s Lallana to Rangers.
Celtic fans have laughed off Barry Ferguson’s claim on PLZ Soccer that Rangers would win the Scottish Premiership title by signing Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana on loan this month.
Speculation on social media is suggesting that 30-year-old Lallana could be Rangers’ next signing, in a move that would see him reunite with Gers boss Steven Gerrard.
The 34-time England international has been afforded just 202 minutes of Premier League football this season, spread across six appearances. He has plummeted down the pecking order, especially after the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri.
Ex-Rangers captain Ferguson reckons that if Rangers can complete a deal to lure Lallana on loan to Ibrox before the end of the January transfer window, then he is confident that Gerrard’s men can win the Scottish Premiership title.
“If they manage to sign Lallana, they’ve got an even better chance to snatch a title away from Celtic,” Ferguson said. “The guy is genuine quality. If Rangers pull that off, I’ll need to give them a handshake.”
The twinkle-toed playmaker is a household name in the Premier League, having turned out 174 times in England’s top tier – scoring 29 goals and creating 30 more. But he also has played 87 times in the Championship, and 83 in League One.
Celtic fans have reacted hilariously to Ferguson’s comments about Lallana, with many doubting whether their Old Firm rivals would be able to land Lallana – and indeed the title.
