Southampton loanee Mohamed Elyounoussi started for Celtic on Saturday.
Celtic weren’t exactly in ideal form on Saturday afternoon as they scraped their way to a narrow 1-0 win over Hamilton Academical.
The Bhoys were superb before the international break with a 2-0 win at Rangers in the first Old Firm derby of the season, and Neil Lennon will have been hoping for another strong display.
Celtic struggled to really hit their best, but James Forrest did give them an early lead after fine work from new signing Mohamed Elyounoussi.
Celtic pushed for a second but couldn’t find it, meaning they had to settle for a 1-0 victory at New Douglas Park before heading back to Glasgow.
Lennon will at least be happy with another victory, keeping up Celtic’s 100% winning record this season, staying three points ahead of Rangers.
He’ll also be delighted to have seen Elyounoussi make an immediate impact, as he made his first appearance for the club and took just four minutes to record an assist.
The Norwegian international has struggled for first-team football at Southampton, but having completed a move to Parkhead late last month, was given a chance by Lennon.
Celtic fans took to Twitter to rave about Elyounoussi, praising him as ‘pretty special’ and an ‘excellent addition’, feeling that he’s set for a big season and will rip the Scottish Premiership apart during his season-long loan deal with the Bhoys.
