Celtic fans are discussing the prospect of their side signing the Sheffield Wednesday striker, Steven Fletcher.

Fletcher’s name has been suggested as a potential January recruit for the Bhoys, by the 31-year-old’s ex-teammate Kevin Thomson.

Celtic sold Moussa Dembele to Lyon on deadline day and recently granted Leigh Griffiths a leave of absence, leaving Odsonne Edouard as Brendan Rodgers’ only recognised centre-forward.

Asked who the Scottish champions could turn to in the upcoming transfer window, told BT Sport on Thursday: “I wonder if Steven Fletcher could potentially be a name that could excite Brendan Rodgers.

“I think he’s a top player, he would score goals. I think the way Celtic play as well, having young legs in midfield now.

“He would certainly give that team a platform. I don’t think he’s going to run in behind now, but he’d certainly link the midfield to front.

“He’s had a terrific career and I’m pretty sure Brendan will know a lot about Steven Fletcher.”

But what do those of a Celtic persuasion make of Thomson’s comments?

This is what they’re saying about Fletcher, who has scored three goals from 14 starts for Sheffield Wednesday this season…

And some of their Owls counterparts have had their say, too…

Fletcher is in the final 18 months of a contract worth more than £30,000-a-week at Sheffield Wednesday (the Star), whose financial problems could force them to sell high-earning players in the January transfer window.

The 31-year-old recently impressed after being restored to the Scotland fold, and formed an effective partnership with the Celtic duo Ryan Christie and James Forrest.
