Celtic had the chance to sign John McGinn last season, but the Scotland international ended up signing for Aston Villa, as he has since won promotion with them to the Premier League.

Celtic supporters are in stitches on Twitter after hearing that Aston Villa’s John McGinn is being touted for a big-money move to Manchester United.
The Sun have claimed that the Old Trafford giants are looking to snap up the services of the Villa midfielder, who is being valued at £50 million by the Midlands club.
Villa earned promotion to the Premier League in May by beating Derby County in the Championship play-off final, with McGinn scoring the decisive goal of the game and earning the Man of the Match award.
The Scotsman’s performance at Wembley defined the displays he had been producing on a consistent basis during the regular season, with the energetic midfielder winning Villa’s Player and Supporters Player of the Year awards.
It could have been a lot different for McGinn because last summer he was touted for a move to Scottish Premiership giants Celtic [Sky Sports], but that didn’t materialise, and instead, he made the switch from Hibernian to Villa.

Given the valuation on McGinn, the Bhoys supporters asked how much their star players such as Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor would be worth if their international teammate is valued at that price.
Manchester United are in a period of transition and they have been signing some highly-rated talents from winger Daniel James to right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, so interest in McGinn shouldn’t be a surprise, but it’s the price tag on his head that has got the Celtic faithful talking.
