Celtic fans take a victory lap after Brendan Rodgers stays put.

After an unwelcome week of speculation, Brendan Rodgers remains Celtic manager.
Rodgers was rumoured to be on Aston Villa’s shortlist to replace Steve Bruce, with The Mail reporting their interest.
No approach was ultimately made to Celtic, and Villa hired Brentford boss Dean Smith instead.

Rodgers himself had distanced himself from speculation, telling BBC Sport he had not been contacted by Villa.
The Celtic boss is prime for speculation for a variety of factors.
He has won everything at domestic level at Celtic and rebuilt his reputation after his Liverpool spell ended badly.
Celtic are also undergoing their first rocky patch since Rodgers took over.
Ultimately he will enhance his reputation if he battles through it, rather than walking away for a new challenge.
Celtic fans had got frustrated from TV and newspaper outlets fuelling the Rodgers to Villa speculation.

They have reacted happily now it is confirmed he won’t be heading to Villa. One fan even joked he will now be linked with Dean Smith’s old job at Brentford next…
