Rangers are set to lose Barrie McKay to Nottingham Forest in a deal which will net the Ibrox side a mere £500,000, according to The Scottish Sun, much to the Celtic fans’ amusement.
It’s less than six months since the Rangers product was claimed, by The Daily Record, to be a £6 million target for Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

But having turned down the offer of a new contract at Ibrox, McKay was never likely to fetch anything like that amount, with other clubs very aware that Rangers stand to lose him for nothing next summer.
Still, the £500,000 fee is significantly lower than anyone would have expected – especially considering Rangers’ Joe Garner, a 29-year-old, sold for around twice as much earlier in the summer – and Celtic fans have been quick to mock their rivals about it on social media.
Celtic fans could yet get a taste of their own medicine, however, with their own midfielder, Stuart Armstrong, finding himself in a similar boat to McKay regarding his contract.

Nevertheless it is highly unlikely that Armstrong would leave Celtic Park for as little as seven figures, let alone six.
