Michael Owen claimed that the Celtic winger dived to win a penalty on Thursday.

Celtic fans haven’t reacted well to Michael Owen’s claim that James Forrest dived on Thursday night.
Neil Lennon’s side held in-form Rennes to a 1-1 draw in France during their Europa League opener earlier this week.
Ryan Christie fired Celtic back on level terms from the penalty spot, but Owen believes that his Hoops’ team-mate dived to win the decision.
Speaking on BT Sport, Owen said: “Celtic deserved this because they didn’t get the first one.
“But to me, this isn’t a penalty. Forrest has certainly played for it. He sort of drags his leg and just decides to dive a bit.”
Here’s how Celtic fans reacted to the former striker’s comment:
Owen is right in saying that it was soft, but they were also denied a ‘stonewall penalty’ – in Christie’s words – earlier in the same so you could argue that justice was served.
In any case, Celtic would have certainly settled for a point prior to kickoff.
Rennes are second in Ligue 1 and have already beaten Paris Saint-Germain this season, so holding them to a draw is by no means a poor result, even if they might have got three points on another day.
