Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk made a name for himself at Celtic, whilst Andy Robertson was released by the club as a youngster.
Celtic supporters on Twitter spoke in awe of Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson after they helped their team win the Champions League trophy on Saturday.
Both men started and played the full match as Liverpool secured their sixth European trophy. Van Dijk made a name for himself at Celtic, whilst left-back Robertson was released by the club as a youngster.
Since then, Van Dijk has gone onto play for Southampton before moving to Anfield in January 2018, whilst Robertson had to drop down to the fourth tier of Scottish football before making his remarkable rise.
Therefore, it isn’t a surprise to see that the Parkhead supporters were delighted with their former players and how they have written their names into the history books.
Both players have been key men for Jurgen Klopp this season and they could argue that they are perhaps the best players in their position in Europe, at this moment in time.
Robertson has provided both defensive and attacking qualities on the left-hand side, whilst Van Dijk has added a much-needed calmness to Liverpool’s backline.

Scottish football gets criticised for its lack of quality and lack of competitiveness, but the likes of Van Dijk and Robertson have proven that they can either produce or find gems to play in their league.
Nonetheless, both Van Dijk and Robertson will now turn their attention to winning the Premier League next season after narrowly missing out to Manchester City during the recently concluded campaign.
