Celtic fans had kind words to say about Rangers’ Jak Alnwick.

Jak Alnwick of Rangers arrives at the stadium prior to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on March 12, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic demolished Rangers once again at the weekend as they crushed their rivals 5-0.

The scoreline was high but Rangers were actually very lucky that it was not more.

Celtic had 13 shots on target and only some impressive goalkeeping from Jak Alnwick kept the score down.

Cedric Kipre of Motherwell has his shot saved well by Jak Alnwick of Rangers during the Betfred Cup Semi Final at Hampden Park on October 22, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Conceding five was far from ideal for Alnwick, but his reputation was not crushed, far from it. He was potentially the only Rangers player to come out of the game with any credit.

The performances of the likes of James Tavernier and Josh Windass prompted much hilarity and mocking from fans of rivals Celtic.

When it came to Alnwick, Celtic supporters actually had positive comments, and praised the former Newcastle talent’s efforts.

Alnwick was standing in for injured stopper Wes Foderingham, and in doing so he did not necessarily look like a downgrade.

Rangers have plenty of thinking to do ahead of next season as they plan on how to avoid further embarrassment.

Keeping him around as an able deputy may well be a smart decision for Rangers’ next manager.
