It’s fair to say the Nigerian probably won’t be missed at Celtic Park.

If there’s anything that can be gleaned from Wolves recent form, it’s that a new centre-half wouldn’t go amiss at Molineux.
The ‘Old Gold’ may have picked up a much needed clean sheet in Paul Lambert’s first game at the helm away at Preston last time out but, with captain Danny Batth showing precisely none of the attributes that are supposed to go hand in hand with the armband, and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson flattering to deceive since arriving on loan from Manchester United, it’s understandable that the former Aston Villa boss is preparing to dip into the market.
So far, so good. However, speculation has intensified that the man Lambert has earmarked as the answer to the club’s defensive problems is none other than Celtic misfit Efe Ambrose. Now, the Nigerian international won three league titles, one Scottish Cup and a League Cup during since arriving in Glasgow in 2012, while helping the north-of-the-border giants to the promised land of the Champions League knockout stages four years ago.
But that only tells half the story. Ambrose is every bit a ‘cult hero’, which loosely translates as ‘tries hard, cares a lot but is genuinely, hilariously, useless’. When Ambrose started, particularly in crucial European clashes, howlers generally followed. Understandably, he hasn’t featured in the first-team since the Europa League qualifier with Astana at the end of July, with Brendan Rodgers’ taking very little time to make an assessment of his 28-year-old centre-back.

And the long-suffering Celtic fans have a few words of warning for the defenders’ prospective new employers.
