Celtic are reportedly closing in on CFR Cluj striker Billel Omrani.

Celtic are expected to be busy before Monday’s transfer deadline, and another attacker appears to be on his radar.

The Bhoys have Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Issouf Bayo in attack, meaning another striker isn’t exactly a pressing need.

Out wide, Celtic have Lewis Morgan, Mikey Johnston, James Forrest, Jonny Hayes and Maryan Shved, whilst Scott Sinclair is still at the club despite being effectively frozen out by boss Neil Lennon.

Adding another player to fill those roles would be a surprise, but Lennon appears keen on one more attacker – and it’s a player who has been Celtic’s nemesis this summer.

GSP in Romania claim that CFR Cluj attacker Billel Omrani is set for a move to Celtic, with a €3.3million (£3million) deal being agreed between the two clubs.

Omrani scored twice for Cluj earlier this month to dump Celtic out of the Champions League qualifiers, but may now be calling Parkhead home if a deal goes go through.

The 26-year-old, formerly of Marseille, primarily plays as a centre forward or physical winger, and notched nine goals and 15 assists last season.

Celtic fans are taking to Twitter to react, with many unhappy with the rumour, suggesting that Omrani is ‘shocking’ and ‘rubbish’, with some giving up with Celtic’s approach to the window if they’re just signing Omrani off the back him scoring twice at Parkhead.

Some are comparing Omrani to ex-Celtic ace Georgios Samaras as a burly, versatile forward, but there’s a belief that Lennon doesn’t need to be in the market for another attacker, especially one with limited goalscoring success like Omrani.
