Karpaty Lviv’s Ukrainian winger has been linked with a shock move to Scottish Premiership champions Celtic on Friday.

It’s fair to say the average Glaswegian punter won’t know a huge amount about Maryan Shved.

A 21-year-old winger who plays in Ukraine for Karpaty Lviv, the Scottish Sun have reported on Friday that Celtic have been offered the chance to sign him this month for a potential bargain fee of £2 million.

And a quick glance at YouTube offers a glimpse into his potential. Clearly, Shved is a player with an eye for the spectacular, capable of stunning goals when cutting inside onto his favoured left foot.

No wonder he won the Ukrainian league’s Player of the Year award last season.

But this does not mean Celtic fans are enamoured by his potential arrival at Parkhead. After all, The Hoops are hardly short of wingers with Jonny Hayes and Lewis Morgan struggling to get into the team right now.

And that is without mentioning the currently crocked Daniel Arzani.

Surely a right-back and a centre-half to replace Mikael Lustig or Dedryck Boyata should be the priority, no matter how many wonder-goals Shved has scored in the Ukrainian top flight.
