Celtic fans fume at Old Firm derby fine

Celtic have been fined £7,500 for their players’ behaviour.

Celtic have been fined £7,500 for their player’s involvement in the Old Firm derby fracas.

Rangers have also copped a fine of the same amount, BBC Sport report.

Rangers’ fine was predictable, with Andy Halliday sent off after the final whistle.

Celtic’s fine was more controversial, as they had no players sent off. Rangers also had Alfredo Morelos dismissed during the game.

The amount of the fine is negligible to the club. It is the principle which has upset supporters.

Celtic won the game 2-1, but the fallout from the match was dominated by the incidents off the ball, which Rangers fans claimed Celtic’s players instigated.

Fans vented on social media at the Scottish Football Association’s decision to mete out a punishment to the club.
