Last week Celtic secured a place in the Champions League group stages for the first time in three years with a 5-4 aggregate win over Hapoel Beer Sheva, much to their fans’ jubilation.

The Hoops went on to draw one of the toughest groups imaginable as they prepare to face Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach in Group C.

However, someone who will not be joining up with Brendan Rodgers’ side in Europe is 33-year-old Kris Commons, who was omitted from the squad alongside teammates Efe Ambrose and Kristoffer Ajer.

Commons, perhaps the most notable absence, was named SFWA Footballer of the Year in 2014 after scoring 32 goals in 48 games for Celtic.

And though his form has dipped since, fans have are not too pleased to see one of their club’s best servants be left out of such an important squad.

The decision was made even worse by the fact that Rodgers named only 24 players in the squad despite the limit being 25.

And two of those 24 players include defender Jozo Simunovic and winger Gary Mackay-Steven, who are both recovering from spells on the sidelines.

Needless to say, Celtic’s 24-man Champions League squad has undoubtedly got Hoops fans talking – here is what some of them had to say:
