Roberts is struggling for game time after opting to move to Spain, rather than another loan at Celtic.
Patrick Roberts has managed only 67 minutes of football since joining La Liga side Girona on loan from Manchester City in the summer – and some Celtic fans believe he has made the wrong choice.
The 21-year-old spent two and a half years at Celtic after first joining the club in January 2016 on an 18-month loan deal, before returning to the club for the 2017-18 season for another season.
Having returned to City in the summer, there were claims that the Scottish champions were interested on landing the former Fulham star on loan again, with his £10,000-a-week wages more than affordable (Spotrac).
Instead, the England youth international opted for change and City sent him to Spain to play for Girona. But he has managed just 67 minutes of action spread across five substitute appearances.
During 78 appearances for Celtic, Roberts scored 18 goals as well as laying on 26 assists and played a crucial part in Brendan Rodgers’ double-treble winning side.
Some Celtic fans believe he should have returned to Celtic once again and continued to develop north of the border, rather than going to Spain where he is struggling to get game time.
