Celtic defender Mikael Lustig is set to miss the Hoops’ Old Firm showdown against Rangers next weekend after Wednesday night’s clash against Dundee was postponed – and Celtic fans are overjoyed.

The 31-year-old was sent off for two bookable offences against Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon, as the Hoops earned an excellent 2-0 win over Derek McInnes’ side at Pittodrie.

He was set to serve that suspension against Dundee on Wednesday night, as the Bhoys played host to Neil McCann’s side. However, the game has been postponed, meaning Lustig will have to wait for his ban to be removed.

The suspension will not affect his availability in Saturday’s Scottish Cup clash against Greenock Morton, meaning the 62-time Sweden international will be ruled out of the Hoops’ next game which is Old Firm rivals Rangers on March 11.

With his form questionable of late, Lustig’s unavailability against Rangers has gone down well with the Celtic faithful, as they declared themselves delighted on Twitter.

One fan even described Lustig as “a liability”.
