Celtic academy product McCart has joined Inverness.
Scottish Championship side Inverness have confirmed the signing of young defender Jamie McCart on a two-year deal from Scottish champions Celtic – and Hoops fans have questioned the decision on Twitter, while Tony Watt also posted.
The 20-year-old leaves Celtic after making only one appearance for the Hoops, coming on as a substitute during the 5-0 Scottish League Cup win over Motherwell in August 2016.
His contract on Parkhead had expired on May 31 and was seemingly on the lookout for a new club, with Inverness landing the highly-rated Scotland Under-21 international on a free.
McCart has already played for Inverness, joining them for the second half of the 2016-17 campaign in which he made 11 appearances for the Caley Jags. Now, he joins them on a permanent basis.
Celtic fans and former striker Tony Watt have reacted to the news on Twitter, with the majority of supporters claiming that Inverness have landed a steal in the centre-back.
Watt sent his congratulations to former teammate McCart, while one Celtic fan described McCart as “world class”.
