McGinn was in action for Villa against Wednesday in their Championship match at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Scotland international midfielder scored for the Villans in their 2-1 defeat to the Owls at home.
The 23-year-old found the target with a stunning volley from outside the Wednesday penalty box.
McGinn moved to Villa in the Championship in England from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Lancashire Telegraph to be worth £4 million.
Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic, though, were interested in securing the services of the Scotland international midfielder, according to The Daily Record, with the Glasgow giants claimed to have matched the Villans’ offer for the 23-year-old.
